Project Run & Play Sew Along–Week 1 Pattern Remix

I’m so excited to be kicking off another round of Project Run & Play. This week’s task was to remix The Party Dress pattern and tutorial found over at The Cottage Home. Click on the link to check out the original, because mine sure got remixed!

I went from a classic party style to a bit mod casual. Then, I added a head scarf for a bit more fun.

A little denim color bock detail was just what this Jennifer Paganelli print called for in my opinion.

So, here’s the details. I brought the neck up a hair and flattened it out. I shortened the front bodice and made it two pieces with an asymmetrical button detail. I’ve been saving up this treasured vintage rose button, and this was just the thing to use it for. Instead of a straight gathered skirt, I cut mine with a bit of an a-line and added a pleat detail at the front.

I didn’t want to use mix matched buttons, so I opted for a zip closure at the back. I added two pleats at the back to mimic the front detail.

After a few serious photos, Avery was ready to ham it up.
