Baby Goods

In between big projects, I’ve been sewing up a few wee ones. Some for friends, but mostly my sister has been requesting gifts for her friends. I’m certainly grateful for the business and flattered that she enjoys giving my handmade wares.

My favorite diaper cover pattern comes from McCall’s M5084. I’ve never actually sewn the dress, but I’m constantly using these diaper covers to go with many of Avery’s dresses. The McCall's pattern is on the left; the one on the right was a freebie pattern. I really didn't like it at all, so I'm not going to pass on the info. Grab a coupon and get the McCall's pattern from Hobby Lobby if you need to sew some of these. It's a keeper.

Another favorite for little sizes is New Look 6576. It’s simple, but totally cute with fun fabrics.

I spotted this freebie a while back, and I just had to give it a go. I wish I knew about it when Avery was this small! The pattern is by Little Betty here.

We can’t leave out the boys. This is one of the rompers from Carla C’s pattern.

Guests A Plenty

It’s so much fun having visitors frequent our home. This weekend we were blessed with a quick visit from Gogo and Gramps.

As they left, Todd’s good friend Ryan came in to catch some Ole Miss baseball games. Avery was able to enjoy the game on Sunday too.

Cutie Pie Cousins

My sister pretty much avoided visiting us in Laredo as much as possible, so we were super excited when they made plans to head to Oxford for a long weekend. Traveling to Oxford is generally not the easiest, and they had to manage it with a 5-month old. We had so much fun watching the cousins together, so we hope they visit more frequently than they did in Laredo.

Avery seems to adore babies and they basically have to deal with zero personal space when she is around. (Please ignore the fact that she is pantless in this photo. Have I told you how poorly potty training is going?!?)

Uncle Cool certainly lived up to his name.

Unfortunately, this is the only photo I could find with Aunt Sassy. Here she is with Ford consoling Avery after a particularly brutal run and crash scenario.

Thanks for making the trip Allens. Come back soon!

Marshmallow Lolli Treats

We made the same Valentine treats as last year for Avery's school friends.

Only this year Avery was much more involved, especially when it came to "sprinkle time."

Lovely Dress for Love Day

Of course there needed to be a dress to share the love on Valentine's day. This is the Celina pattern by Farbenmix with Bubblegum Basics fabric and a Premeir Prints fabric. Avery is sending sweet baked goodies from her kitchen to yours for Valentine's day!

V-day Celina back

My sister was in town this past weekend and took these photos for me with her snazzy camera. I'll have more on their visit shortly.

Peachy Keen

It may be snowy outside, but I'm dreaming of the warmer weather that I hope is around the corner. I'm loving this combo of Heather Bailey's Fresh Cut and Fabulous fabrics with Sandi Henderson's Meadowsweet.

abbie and lucia bella

The top is the Abbie pattern by Children's Corner. Let me take a moment here to say that if you are a beginner at sewing do not try a Children's Corner pattern. The instructions are sparse and the pictures are few and weak. I tried to make notes for myself to follow later as I went, but towards the end I'm not even sure if I could repeat what I did in the same way. Somehow, this all came together, but most of that was luck.

abbie collar

I snatched up the pantaloons pattern from Snazziedrawers almost as soon as it was released. I love the idea, and her layered versions are so unique. I'm not sure the fit turned out great though, so we'll see if I'll be getting the seam ripper out again for these. I wanted to show the details at the leg to give an idea of how this came together. I used what was left of the bias trim from making the collar to come up with a bow.

I wanted to use the peach lace for my casing, but I didn't want the elastic to show through, so I made a strip of the contrasting fabric to layer the lace with. If anyone wants more details on this just shoot me an email. It's going to have to warm up a bit before I can get good pictures of Avery in this one.

Winter Play

We've been blessed with yet another snow day around here. I just love having my whole family home unexpectedly. We've already had our morning out in the fluffy white stuff.

The big kid is loving this too.

Our favorite after play treat is a little snow ice cream. This time I even had the forethought to put a bowl out on the patio to collect the falling snow.

Football Festivities

While I enjoy supporting our favorite football teams, I also breath a sigh of relief when the season comes to a close. So, I had extra reasons to celebrate the Super Bowl last night. We opened our Mississippi home for the first time to Todd's coworkers, and I enjoyed getting to know them and their wives a little better. Of course, any occasion calls for sweets, and I happily supplied football cake pops and sugar cookies. We also served a chili bar complete with red or white chili and a smattering of toppings. We have been blessed with a wonderful home for entertaining, so I'm looking forward to hosting more gatherings as we make new friends in the area.

Friday Fun

Avery received a pair of sandals in the mail today that I ordered for the summer. Unfortunately, she insisted on putting the shoes on before I was able to remove the squeaker in the sole. Well, you can see she thoroughly enjoyed the added bonus of the noise produced as she ran.

This evening the Green family came for a visit, and Todd and I were able to babysit while the adults went to a rehearsal dinner. I guess you could consider it a rehearsal for us as well if we ever wanted 3 kiddos. Good thing we don't!!

Sweet Visit

We truly love having our family around us, so of course we made the most of our recent visit with Omie and Opa. It was Opa's first time back since helping us with the initail move in. Things have really changed around here since then. Of course, we had them busy with more projects in between their Avery play time.

Come back soon!
