Scooting About
I snapped some photos of Little A as she was scooting around her room looking for things to play with today. The drawer of sheets was a hit.
Party Time
We made it to our friend Lily Belle Brockman's first birthday party this weekend. Here is the beautiful birthday girl chatting with her Aunt Rachel (Fancy).
The little ones had fun playing in the pinata prizes.
Avery was finally able to meet Nathan Player; although, she did give him a scare with her excited screams. I'm a little jealous to say that he is closer to crawling at 6 1/2 months, than Avery is at 10.

Can't Stop Sewing
I'm addicted to sewing. This blog was meant to be all about my little sweeter than cupcake, but lately it's all about sewing. Not to worry, there will be lots of pictures of Little A coming. I just finished this little outfit for a baby shower gift. I don't think the new mommy-to-be follows the blog, so I'm hoping she doesn't get a sneak peek. OK, applique is not my thing. Every tutorial I've read makes it seem so easy. I do not do well with the stretchy fabric, but I don't think the baby will look too close. The skirt pattern is Pink Fig's Girly Skirt, and the fabrics are from Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom line.
I'm fairly new to sewing which is probably why I'm obsessed at the moment. So, what made me take on a dress that is noted with a difficulty level of 4 out of 5? I guess I was intrigued by the challenge. This is from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones. It is the Easy Empire-Waist Top. I'm assuming the "Easy" part is for "easy to wear" since the difficulty level is on the higher end of the spectrum. I love all of the details with the little bow and split cuffs on the sleeves.

I think Avery will appreciate the slits on the skirt for mobility. She has not made the leap to crawling yet. She likes to scoot on her bottom. She is able to get where she wants to go, so I guess she has not found the need to crawl. I'll have to get a little video of this to post. Back to the dress, I was able to use one of my vintage buttons from my stash. I love the jadeite color of this one. The floral fabric is by Amy Butler, and the purple fabric is another one of Sandi Henderson's.

Sweet Dreams
I made these wide-leg lounge pants for my Mom for her upcoming birthday. The pattern is from Amy Butler's book "In Stitches". I had to give the pants to my Mom a little early because I knew they would need some adjusting. The pattern indicates the inseam to be 32" which is my inseam length, so I adjusted the hem accordingly for my Mom. When I tried them on, the length was still perfect for me. Unfortunately, when I redid the hem the lace ended up right on the bottom of the pants, but they still look okay.
I ordered the fabric and lace from my favorite online shop, Fabritopia. The lace is her gorgeous green lace, and I think it is fabulous. I ordered some of the hot pink lace in my last purchase, and she has tempted me by including swatches of the yellow and purple.

Clean Bill of Health
We finally have the CT scan of Avery's head behind us, and the neurologist declared her health. Avery fought off the sedation with all of the stubbornness we have seen glimpses of in the past, but in the end she slept for all of the 5 minutes of the xray. She awoke with gusto ready to finally get some food for the day. The crash came later, and she slept off and on for the rest of the afternoon. It was the most pleasant drive home from San Antonio that we have had so far!
I know these pictures don't actually go with the post, but I needed to sneak in a few more somewhere.

Easter in Review
Avery had a very happy Easter. She found a few of her favorite things in her Easter basket including puffs and another binkie holder.
Omie and Opa came for a visit.

We posed for family photo time.
After church, we had a group of about 10 over for brunch. Mom had helped me cook lots of yummy food the day before.
Of course, there were cupcakes. These were lemon with a little colored coconut on top. I found out that coloring coconut is as simple as tossing it around in a Ziploc with a couple drops of food coloring. I'll be using this simple trick often.

Embellished
Avery was wearing her cute embellished (not by me) jeans today as she played in the grass. This and taking a bath are her favorite activities these days.

This smile is my favorite thing on Earth.
I was inspired to embellish Avery's Easter basket by this fun contest. I think I'll enter it just for fun. I found the tutorial for the sweet fabric flowers here, and I used up some of my last scraps of Heather Bailey's fabric. The fabric in the background just arrived in the mail. It's one of Jennifer Paganelli's works of art. I don't have specific plans for it yet, but you know it will be wonderfully girly.

Another Easter thought to ponder: "That if you confess with you mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9

Treasures Part 2
I know I already showed off this sign, but I just had to let you know what I decided to do with it. I received the cute aprons on the left for my birthday. Brooke made the one with Amy Butler fabric in the middle.
I was starting to feel like I didn't have much to include in Avery's Easter basket, so I made this little dress for her. The floral print is one of my favs Heather Bailey, and the pattern is Miss Molly from The Handmade Dress.
More Easter thoughts to ponder: "And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." 2 Corinthians 5:15
